KARACHI:

A new 'white Corolla gang' of robbers has become active in Defence Housing Authority (DHA) with two bungalows being looted in two days.

A gang of robbers broke into a bungalow in DHA Phase V on Sunday night, held the private security guards hostage and took off with valuables, including a pistol, a revolver, an expensive dagger, gold jewellry and cash before fleeing.

A day prior, on November 7, reportedly the same gang had broken into another bungalow in DHA Phase VIII by scaling the wall.

They snatched the weapon of the security guard and held him hostage while tying up two other guards with wires.

Within half an hour the robbers had swept the house off valuables and managed to escape in a white Corolla. The CCTV footage of the area showed five suspects.

The police lodged a case against both the robberies and launched investigations. The police believe that this gang of robbers using a white Corolla is separate from the 'white Corolla gang' of the past.

According to the police, these robbers do not appear to be professional criminals and they left fingerprints and other evidence behind, which was collected by the investigating officials. The police carried out geo-fencing in the area and has initiated raids to arrest the suspects.
