PESHAWAR:

A polio-stricken teacher from Peshawar has won a gold medal at the second Skills Workers Competition in China. On Monday, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Governor Shah Farman presented him with a cash award in recognition of his feat.

Skill workers from different member countries participated in the competition which had been organised by the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) under the auspices of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions (ACFTU) in Beijing.

The ACFTU hosted the competition's events including lectures on different skills. Several participants from other countries were also awarded medals including gold, silver and bronze in different categories.

Iqbal, who hails from Peshawar and serves as a Lecturer at Government College of Technology, called on Farman at the Governor House on Monday.

Farman lauded and encouraged the gold medalist for carrying the flag of the province on the international stage despite his affliction.
