K-P govt to make ETEA an authority

CM told ETEA Ordinance, 2001 amended draft will soon be presented to provincial cabinet for approval

The Education Testing and Evaluation Agency (ETEA) Ordinance, 2001 amended draft has been prepared which will soon be presented to the provincial cabinet for approval.

The ETEA ordinance has been amended for addition of permanent members into its board of governors and to make it an authority.

This was disclosed during the 28th meeting of the Board of Governors of ETEA on Saturday. Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Mahmood Khan presided over the meeting.

The chief minister said that ETEA, being a sole and responsible testing agency of the provincial government is playing vital role in fast track testing and evaluation as well as in the recruitment of staff in transparent manners. He also directed to speed up the recruitment process of staff for provincial departments and assured that his government will extend support to strengthen the agency.

The meeting was briefed about the administrative structure of ETEA, its functions and responsibilities, reforms, overall progress made so far, issues and other matters related to the capacity of ETEA.

The meeting was informed that during 2019, engineering entrance tests of 11, 500 candidates have been conducted while 45, 000 candidates appeared in test for medical colleges.

Similarly, during the 2019, as many as 0.3 million candidates appeared in exam for recruitment on 5, 861 vacancies in the 28 provincial departments.

Besides this, over 9, 000 admission tests have also been conducted for the admission in various educational institutes of the province.

CM Mahmood directed for inclusion of information technology experts in the BoG of ETEA so that their expertise could be utilised for intervention of technology in ETEA exams.
