Senate panel: Locals should be given preference in jobs

There is a need to strictly implement regional and provincial quota in government recruitments and local people should be given preference in recruitment at Pakistan State Oil (PSO) and Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL), a Senate special committee said on Monday. Leader of the House in the Senate Syed Nayyar Hussain Bukhari presided over the committee meeting. The committee directed the ministry of oil and natural resources to remove discrepancies in the quota system and allocate regional and provincial quota in a transparent and lawful manner. Earlier the PPL Secretary briefed the committee. Senators Wasim Sajjad, Zahid Khan, Tahir Hussain Mashhadi, Dr Abdul Malik, Islamuddin Sheikh, Abbas Khan, Shahid Hussain Bugti and Dr Ismail Bulledi attended the meeting.
