SHC CJ takes notice of attack on professor
Sindh High Court (SHC) Chief Justice Ahmed Ali Shaikh on Friday took notice of an attack on a college professor in Shahdadkot earlier this week, seeking a detailed report of the incident from the Sindh College Education Department.
Assistant professor Abdul Jabbar Junejo was reportedly attacked by a group of men near Government Degree College Shahdadkot on Tuesday afternoon. He claimed he was badly beaten and also shot at, but the bullets did not hit him.
An FIR was registered on Junejo's behalf against five persons, two of whom were unidentified.
In the FIR, Junejo alleges that those involved in the attack had occupied college land. The court had already decided in favour of the college, stated Junejo, adding that he and other college teachers had been raising their voices against illegal occupation.
Pictures of Junejo with injury marks on his body went viral on social media after the attack, with many condemning the incident.
On Wednesday, the police arrested two people nominated in the case, while three other remain at large.
Meanwhile, the colleges director has written to the college principal seeking a comprehensive report about the incident.
