Punjab Police has vowed to continue the olive green uniform.

The decision has been reasserted in a high-level meeting chaired by the Inspector General of Police Punjab Inam Ghani at the Central Police Office on Thursday.

The IGP has constituted a seven-member committee comprising senior officers to amend the Police Uniform Standing Order 2017 by keeping in view all aspects regarding uniform and badges of all ranks concerning uniform and prepare first draft after amendment for presenting it in next meeting on 12 November so that the next course of action can be decided.

IG Punjab directed the members of the committee to consult in detail with the police forces of other provinces and officers of the National Police Bureau on all aspects of uniforms including uniforms, designs, rank badges, socks, hats, jackets and shoes and in the light of the information obtained, make your recommendations and suggestions a part of the draft.

The committee will consist of seven officers including Additional IG Logistics and Procurement, DIG Legal and DIG Procurement.

He expressed these views while presiding over a high-level meeting at the Central Police Office here today. The meeting discussed in detail the Police Uniform Rules 1952 and the Standing Order for Police Uniforms 2017.

While the quality of the existing uniform fabric will be further improved, the uniform will be made more comfortable.

He added that the Standing Order for Police Uniforms 2017 should be amended and the Police Uniform Rules 1952 should also be taken into consideration in the preparation of the new draft.

He further said that the existing uniforms of Punjab Police should be maintained while action should be taken against the police officers and personnel wearing uniforms except the approved design.
