As verbal duel and mutual recrimination intensify in the midst of electioneering, the federal information minister took a jibe at the two main opposition parties that have been attacking the ruling party during their rallies in Gilgit-Baltistan.

“The people of Gilgit-Baltistan would not allow the N-League to open another franchise of corruption in their region,” Shibli Faraz said in a tweet after PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz – who is currently on campaign trail in G-B – lambasted Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday.

“Those who have reduced Sindh to ruins cannot put G-B on the road to development and prosperity,” the minister said while referring to the Pakistan Peoples Party, which has been in power in Sindh.

He went on to add that the two parties which have been rejected by the people of Pakistan could not hoodwink the people of G-B.

Premier Imran’s top political aide also mounted a frontal attack on PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari who has been criticising the government while on campaign trial in G-B.

“After three decades of loot and plunder, the third generation is trying to mislead people,” Dr Shahbaz Gill wrote on his official Twitter handle. “Looters of Sindh are lying to the people of Gilgit-Baltistan. [Asif Ali] Zardari has plunged Sindh into darkness,” he added.

Gill called upon Bilawal to tell the people of Astore why children were dying in Tharparkar district of Sindh. He was referring to media reports which say that children in the famine-hit Thar were dying of malnutrition.
