Mehwish Hayat compares US Presidential race with Pakistani elections

The actor says that Pakistan doesn't have a 'monopoly on interesting elections'

The US Election had the entire world biting its teeth as competition between political rivals Donald Trump and Joe Biden went neck in neck. Pakistanis too were glued to preliminary results with many justifying their obsession by arguing that the US's political landscape impacts global politics.

Sharing her two cents on the matter, Pakistani actor Mehwish Hayat in an Instagram post shared a quote about the implications of America's political atmosphere on the entire world. "When America sneezes, the world catches a cold,” she said.

Adding on, the Punjab Nahi Jaoongi star expressed her worries with how shop owners in various major cities in the US are 'boarding' their establishments to protect them from looting." Was dismayed to learn from friends that areas in major cities are being boarded up expecting civil unrest," she said.

Concluding her note, Hayat proceeded to compare the current presidential race to elections in Pakistan. " A real sense of deja vu! Seems we are not the only ones who have a monopoly on 'interesting' elections. Let's see who gets the keys to the White House for the next four years. Any thoughts on who it should be?" she said.
