Centre decides to provide sugar to K-P

The K-P government had written a letter to the Centre for the provision of 15,000 tonnes of sugar

ISLAMABAD:

The Centre has decided to provide sugar to Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) that it imported through the Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP).

The federal government has also issued instructions to the TCP in this regard.

Earlier, the K-P government had written a letter to the Centre for the provision of 15,000 tonnes of sugar.

According to the Ministry of Industries and Production, the provincial government in order to control the rising price of sugar had asked for the commodity from the federal government.

The commodity is required to be sold at controlled price in the province.

The government had in July approved sugar imports to meet a shortage in production below consumption levels.
