In a bizarre incident, a man in India committed suicide as an offering to God for getting a bank job, according to India Today.

The incident occurred in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu's Nagercoil area. According to the report, Naveen, 32, had vowed to give up his life and "be with God" if he gets a job in the Mumbai branch of Bank of India.

After successfully getting the job, Naveen went to Thiruvananthapuram on Friday, nearly 15 days after joining the work, and lay down on a railway track. He was killed after a train ran him over.

The man left a suicide note stating that he was fulfilling the promise he had made to God that he would be with him if he were to get a job.

Local railway police rushed to the spot and took custody of the body. The police were also investigating if there was any other reason for Naveen to have taken the extreme step.
