RMC workers lock office
Rawalpindi Metropolitan Corporation employees locked their office and staged a sit-in outside the office to protest against the arrest of four employees in anti-corruption case.
On the call of the Municipal Labour Union (CBA), the employees staged a sit-in and announced that the lockout and protest would continue till the release of four comrades arrested in a baseless case.
The union, acting under the CBA, rules has sent notices to the secretaries of the Local Government, Administrator, Director Labour regarding the protest.
Municipal Workers League CBA President Farooq Nazir said that Anti-Corruption Establishment has wrongly arrested the RMC employees. At least 70 per cent recovery of fees and taxes has been completed in the cases under which the RMC officials were arrested, he said adding processes of approval of building plans of the rest of the 30 per cent cases were under process.
Protesting RMC wotrkers said if their arrested comrades are not released, the field staff will also leave work and join the protest.
