Gas pressure drops with advent of winter
With the advent of winter season, the locals of Rawalpindi have started experiencing low gas pressure at least twice in a day.
The situation is getting worse every passing day particularly in the suburban localities of the garrison city while it is expected to worsen after the first rain of winter season.
In almost of the garrison city, the locals have to deal with low gas pressure between 5am to 7am owing to which the students and people going to their jobs face extreme difficulties as the breakfast could not be prepared on time.
Another round of low pressure is experienced between 8pm and 10pm. The areas hit by the gas shortage include Dhok Manshi, Gulistan Colony, Chaklala, Dhok Charagh Din, Adara, Westridge, Adiala Road, Dhok Khaba, Sadiqabad, Dhok Kala Khan, Dhok Elahi Bakhsh, Arya Mohalla and others.
Meanwhile, the price of liquefied petroleum gas has also shot up. The rate for refilling 11.5kg LPG cylinder has gone up by Rs130/kg. the domestic use LPG cylinder was presently available for around Rs2,000.
Due to the gas crisis, the prices of wood and coal are also expected to rise in the upcoming days.
Consumers are likely to face an acute shortage of gas during the winter, an official of the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL).
