LAHORE:

After a long gap of 12 years, the Child Protection and Welfare Bureau’s (CPWB) board of governor’s meeting was held on Saturday.

The meeting decided to take final approval over the organisation, managing, accommodation rules in the upcoming session of the Punjab Cabinet.

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar chaired the meeting. CPWB Chairperson Sara Ahmad apprised the chief minister of various projects launched by her department.

Buzdar said incompetency and mismanagement of the previous governments took every department at the verge of disaster. He termed not holding a meeting of BoG of the CPWB for 12 years the worst negligence as nothing was more important than the safeguarding the children's rights.

He said unfortunately, former rulers ruined every institution with personal likes and dislike in the past. “All possible resources will be provided for the protection of the rights of helpless children and children involved in beggary will be made useful citizens of the society by providing vocational training courses in TEVTA and other institutions,” the CM said.

He warned that action would be taken without any indiscrimination against the gangs that forced children for begging.
