The streets and roads of the twin cities are adorned with bright lights as people prepare to mark Eid-Miladun-Nabi on Friday.
The air is resonating with the sounds of Naats as people show devotion to Holy Prophet in their own way.
Besides official buildings and main mosques, people have decorated their houses and streets with green buntings and lights for the festive occasion.
In the federal capital, the main event will be the National Rehmatul-lil-Aalamin conference that would be held under the aegis of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony. The president and prime minister will be the chief guests in the conference. Prominent religious scholars, dignitaries, political personalities and diplomats will attend the conference.
The Central Milad Procession would be taken out from Bhutto Cricket Ground, near Sitara Market, Sector G-7. Numerous small processions will join the main procession. The Milad procession would culminate at Barri Imam Shrine.
In Rawalpindi, more than 3,000 Milad Committees will take part in the procession which will pass through the designated routes and end at Jamia Masjid Road at night.
Over 3,000 cops will be deployed in Rawalpindi district to ensure security for the processions of Eid Miladun Nabi (PBUH) to be celebrated on Friday. Owing to the recent bomb blast at a madrassa in Peshawar, besides other terror attacks during the month, police are on high alert as thousands of people are expected to come out to take part in the Milad processions.
The Rawalpindi police, with the help of other law enforcing and security agencies, have devised plan for maintaining law and order and to avert any untoward incident.
All arrangements have been finalised in the district to provide fool-proof security cover to all the processions of the district, a police spokesman said.
Under the security plan, over 3,000 police personnel would be on security duty in the district.
Moreover, at least 1,300 officials of traffic police, Punjab Constabulary, Elite Force, Special Branch, Mohafiz Squad, Women Police Commandos and volunteers would provide security cover to the main Eid Miladun Nabi procession of Rawalpindi city.
