HYDERABAD:

A British doctor of Pakistani origin who was murdered along with her daughter in Reedley, United Kingdom, was laid to rest in Tando Jahania graveyard in Hyderabad on Thursday.

However, according to sources in the family, the body of Dr Saman Sacharvi's daughter, 14-year-old Vian Mangrio, remains in the custody of the British police, who are investigating the double murder.

The bodies of Dr Sacharvi, 49, and her daughter were found at their residence in Reedley, near Burnley, on October 1. Their house was also set on fire.

The British police have reportedly detained three suspects in connection with the case, but have yet to formally divulge the cause behind the murders. The detained persons are also said to be of Pakistani origin.

Dr Sacharvi, who worked at Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust, was the elder sister of Mehran University of Engineering and Technology pro-vice chancellor Dr Taha Hussain. Her father, Ghulam Hussain Sacharvi, was a renowned poet and historian.
