Veteran actor Shaan Shahid  recently paid tribute to renowned singer Abida Parveen. Describing Parveen as the  “voice of the Sufis of Pakistan”, the Waar actor urged his followers to cherish the country’s iconic artists.

“Politics has taken our ears, eyes, mind ,heart and our unity. We must disengage from the hatred of politics and start loving all that is Pakistan. our artists our legends they will never be with us again in a billion years,” Shahid said in the tweet.

Adding on, Shahid in a rather cryptic fashion elaborated on how people should heed to the message of “love, peace and unity”, as relayed by “Sufis” that have come and gone. “ We must connect with our #Sufis call ,that touches our souls not just our minds .. the voice that guides the way of the sufis is silent ,as it waits for its people to hear the message of love ,peace and unity .and become one element one source,” he said.

Earlier on, Shahid in an interview with Arab News shared how the employees at the state-run channel should really ‘wake up and do their jobs.’

According to the publication, Shahid's comments come amid a ban by PEMRA to censor the content of privately owned channels and social media apps. “These are private channels. You can’t control the content of private channels. They will make what they think is right,” the actor said. “But... you’ve got a channel that’s beyond satellite and that’s PTV,” he said.
