Mercury drops to 17 degrees Celsius

The city's temperature dropped further on Monday, with the mercury reaching a minimum of 17 degrees Celsius on the day - the lowest temperature recorded so far this month.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the minimum temperature prior to this was recorded at 18 degrees Celsius, during the last week.

The average temperature to be recorded in the month of October in Karachi is 21.9 degrees Celsius, while the lowest temperature recorded to date in October was 11.7 degrees Celsius on October 30, 1984.

Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfraz said the chill in the port city's weather would increase in the first week of November, while the humidity, too, would rise in the mornings and nights. The minimum temperature is expected to decrease further by two to three degrees.

According to the PMD, the highest temperature on Monday was recorded at 35.5 degrees Celsius with a humidity level of 34 per cent in the evening. The weather is expected to remain hot during the day and chilly at night.
