Stakeholders from the small and medium enterprise (SME) sector have requested the policymakers to support, encourage, finance and facilitate the emerging corporate sector and called for serious consideration to exploit its potential. In a statement on Monday, Union of Small and Medium Enterprises (UNISAME) President Zulfikar Thaver appreciated the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) for widening the definition of SME sector by including the emerging corporate sector as well as the upper medium sector. Thaver said UNISAME council members were positive that if the emerging corporate sector was supported and given the opportunity to progress, it would tap its potential and engage itself not only in modernising, replacing and balancing but also in setting up import substitution industries. UNISAME Banking Finance Committee Convener Imran Bilal Malik identified the potential of the emerging corporate sector and pinpointed its requirements. He emphasised the need for encouraging entrepreneurs by giving them one-window facility for all procedures.
