At least five vehicles were gutted and one hospital facility's care disrupted in separate fire incidents in the city on Friday. No loss of life was reported.

A fire broke out in the cars parked under the Nagin Chowrangi Flyover.

According to fire officials, five cars were gutted before the blaze was extinguished using one fire tender. The fire officers said that one of the cars had caught fire, possibly due to a short circuit in the wiring, and that rapidly spread to other vehicles.

Separately, a fire broke out in ICU on the ground floor of the Infectious Diseases Hospital near Nipa Flyover. The hospital staff shifted patients to the ward on the first floor. The fire department was called and reaching with two fire tenders, it extinguished the flames.

According to the fire department, the thermo coal used in the roof of the affected floor had caught fire due to a short circuit.

Meanwhile, a third fire instance was recorded in the city when a car caught fire in Hussainabad. The people nearby manage to douse the flames through ad hoc efforts.
