One robber killed in exchange of fire

RAWALPINDI:

A robber was killed while another fled in a shootout with the police on Chakri Road. Saddar police officials said that they were out on regular patrol when they saw some men involved in an altercation on Chakri Road near Dhoke Par.

On suspecting foul play, the patrol moved closer. They soon realised that a man was being robbed by some men who had blocked the road. When the robbers saw the police van, they started firing at.

The police responded and the two sides traded fire. In the exchange of fire, one robber, who was later identified as Muhammad Aqil, was killed while his accomplice managed to flee.

The police officials claimed that the robbers had looted a family in a car near Quaid-e-Azam Colony and were attempting to rob a pedestrian when they arrived. The body of the suspected robber was shifted to the hospital for an autopsy while police teams have started searching for his accomplice.
