ISLAMABAD:

As more sectors are developed in the city, the under-development Sector G-13 may get a new police station apart from coverage from the Safe City project.

This was suggested by Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA) Director-General Waseem Hayat Bajwa who visited the sector on Sunday to review the construction of the Kashmir Avenue Apartments being built there.

Bajwa was briefed about development work on the project which had been inaugurated by Prime Minister Imran Khan in March.

He was told that work on the project continuing as per the schedule, with about 90 per cent of excavation work completed. Bajwa, however, directed to accelerate the pace of development work to meet deadlines.

He also visited Sector G-13 and inspected check maintenance work there.

The maintenance director said that all road infrastructure work has been completed in the past 10 months. Further, work on LED street lights in all sub-sectors is in progress, which is expected to be completed within a month.

Further, three parks, six filtration plants, four public enquiry offices, and a school have been constructed and opened to the public. For the remaining three parks, two playgrounds, and a community centre, tenders will be floated in the upcoming week. Horticulture works and uplift of green belts is also in progress.

Bajwa further directed to chalk out a comprehensive landscaping plan for all green belts in the area and to speed up all remaining development works of Sector G-13.

The security director was directed to coordinate with the Safe City authorities to ensure improved security for Sector G-13 and to submit a weekly report on all development and security-related tasks.

He suggested taking up security-related issues with the Islamabad Police, especially for the establishment of a new police station for Sector G-13 for which FGEHA Had allocated a building in the layout plan.
