Two more polio cases surface in Balochistan

23 cases of the crippling virus have been reported from the province during the ongoing year

QUETTA:

Two more polio cases were reported from Balochistan on Saturday taking the total number of cases reported in the province to 23 this year.

According to the Balochistan health department, the first case was reported from the Chitan Town of Quetta, where a four-year-old boy was diagnosed having contracted the virus.

Another polio case was reported from the Tahsil Barshor of district Pishin. A 15-month-old tested positive for the crippling virus.

The number of polio cases in Balochistan rose to 23 after confirmation of the fresh polio cases.

Polio cases have been reported from Pishin, Qilla Abdullah, and other parts of the province and have been declared to be sensitive districts regarding the presence of poliovirus and thousands of chronic refusals.

Pakistan and Afghanistan are the only countries around the globe battling the crippling virus.
