The nephew of a local politician was shot dead while his brother and another nephew were injured in Chakiwara, Lyari, late on Thursday night. Separately, a man gunned down his brother-in-law and wounded another over a family dispute on Friday night.
The nephew of Pasban Democratic Party Lyari’s general secretary, Arif Jalab, was killed, while Jalab’s brother and another nephew were wounded.
The deceased and injured were shifted to Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital for medico-legal formalities and treatment, respectively. The deceased was identified as Awais, and the injured as his brother Waqas and uncle, Liaquat.
The body was later handed over to the family and was laid to rest on Friday morning.
PDP leaders condemned the attack, demanding that the culprits be arrested and penalised.
Family dispute
Separately, a man shot dead his brother-in-law and wounded another in Keamari on Friday night.
The deceased and injured were taken to Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital, Karachi, where they were identified as Iftikhar, 24, and Abid, 17, respectively.
Jackson SHO Malik Adil stated that the police had arrested Ejaz, explaining that the suspect had married the victims’ sister 18 months ago. He added that the incident occurred at Ejaz’s residence, where he opened fire at his brothers-in-law after an argument.
According to the police, the pistol used in the incident was also seized. A case has been registered, while further investigation is underway.
Moreover, four people were shot and injured across the city.
Nawaz, 75, was shot by unidentified men near Sohrab Goth, and was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
In the meantime, another man was shot and injured in Bhatta Village, Keamari. The injured, identified as Aman Shah, 68, was shifted to Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital.
Furthermore, two others were shot and injured in separate robberies near Nipa Flyover and Fisheries. The injured were identified as Usman, 32, and Ramzan, 25.
