ISLAMABAD:

Having improved lighting in parks, the apex civic authority of the federal capital has decided to install cameras to improve security.

In this regard, the Parks Directorate has been directed by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to liaise with the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) police. Senior officers of CDA and Islamabad Police attended the meeting.

The meeting discussed the issue of safety for people visiting the different parks of the city particularly after four directorates had been shifted from the elected Islamabad Metropolitan Corporation (IMC) to the CDA.

In this regard, the meeting was informed that CDA has completed a project to illuminate Sector F-9 Park while repair and maintenance of street lights in other parts of the city is also continuing

The high-level meeting further decided that to discourage littering by motorists, the authority will work in collaboration with the Safe City Project of the city to provide imagery of motorists littering on roads.

Such motorists will be subsequently tracked and fined.

For this purpose, a control room will be established and the relevant department of the CDA will be tasked with liaising with the Safe City Project to evolve a workable mechanism.
