PTI G-B chapter president succumbs to coronavirus

Jaffar Shah, 70, was high potential candidate for the post of G-B chief minister, according to analysts

GILGIT BALTISTAN:

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B) chapter president justice retired Syed Jafar Shah died from Covid-19 in Islamabad on Saturday.

Family sources told The Express Tribune that Shah had been undergoing treatment for coronavirus after he was diagnosed with the repiratory virus a few days ago.

"He could not recover from the deadly virus as he had also some other throat related disease," a relative said.

According to political analysts, the 70-year old former judge of G-B supreme appellate court was the high potential candidate for next chief minister of G-B among other party members if the PTI won the upcoming elections in the region.

He was contesting elections on PTI ticket from the constituency of (GBA Gilgit-3).

Shah had joined the PTI four years back after quitting Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) after developing differences with local party leadership.
