The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has given a go-ahead for starting 48 new business ventures for giving a boost to commercial activities and generating new employment opportunities in the provincial capital.

A meeting of the Planning and Design Committee, chaired by LDA Director General Ahmed Aziz Tarar, allowed change of land use for starting these businesses in different areas of Lahore division on Saturday.

The meeting allowed setting up of 28 petrol pumps, five LPG storage sites, three oil storage sites, six schools, two medical institutions, two hospitals and a powerhouse within the limits of Lahore division.

The authority has started approving – in line with the provisions of recently approved Land Use Regulations – applications seeking permission for commercial use of land which had been pending for the past one and a half year.

Meanwhile, taking note of complaints received through social media from residents of LDA Avenue-I, LDA Vice Chairman SM Imran visited the scheme on Saturday to review the state of basic amenities being provided there.

LDA governing body member Engineer Amir Riaz Qureshi accompanied the vice chairman, while LDA Additional Director General Rana Tika Khan and Director Fahad Anis briefed them about various steps being taken for improving amenities.
