Sindh crosses 140,000 Covid-19 cases

Six more deaths reported, 59 infections emerge in Karachi on Saturday

With 221 fresh infections reported on Saturday, Sindh crossed 140,000 coronavirus cases on the day, hitting a total of 140,131 detected cases. The province has the highest virus tally in the country.

Meanwhile, according to a statement by the Sindh chief minister on the day, six more patients succumbed to the contagious disease overnight, bringing the provincial death toll to 2,549.

He further said that 237 more patients had recovered from Covid-19 overnight, which took the total number of recoveries in Sindh to 132,796.

According to the CM, 4,786 people in Sindh are currently infected, with 4,491 of them in home isolation, 289 under treatment at different hospitals and six quarantined at isolation centres.

Of the active coronavirus cases, 187 patients were in critical condition and 32 of them had already been shifted to ventilators.

Moreover, the CM stated that 59 of the new cases had emerged from Karachi, with 28 cases reported in East district, 14 in South, six in Central, and five each in Malir, West and Korangi.

Furthermore, Hyderabad saw 11 new cases, Jamshoro eight, Larkana and Sukkur five each, Ghotki and Mirpurkhas three each, Shaheed Benazirabad, Tando Mohammad Khan and Jacobabad two each, and Dadu and Umerkot one each.
