A local court issued on Saturday a non-bailable arrest warrant for the accused, Adil Zaman, in a case pertaining to the murder of anchorperson Mureed Abbas.

The court also issued notice to the guarantor of Adil's bail, summoning him to court. The additional District and Sessions Judge was hearing the case at the Karachi Central Jail, where jail officials presented the prime accused, Atif Zaman, before the court. However, the accused's counsels did not appear during the hearing.

The police submitted a report pertaining to their failure to arrest Adil, stating that he had gone into hiding but they were trying to trace and apprehend him.

Adil had escaped from court premises in September after the Supreme Court cancelled his bail. Hearing a plea challenging his release on bail by the Sindh High Court, the apex court suspended his bail and ordered that he be arrested and sent to jail again.

The local court issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for Adil and directed the police to present him in court on November 7.

It also issued a notice to Adil's bail guarantor, Muhammad Nazeer, summoning him to court.
