12 killed in 976 road accidents
At least 12 people were killed whereas 976 were injured in 917 Road Traffic Crashes (RTCs) in all 36 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. Out of this, 610 people were seriously injured who were shifted to different hospitals whereas, 366 minor injured victims were treated at the incident site.
The majority of RTCs, around 63 per cent, involved motorcycles. Furthermore, the analysis showed that 400 drivers, 25 underage drivers, 156 pedestrians, and 432 passengers were among the victims of these road traffic crashes. The statistics revealed that 227 RTCs were reported in Lahore which affected 214 persons, placing the provincial capital at top of the list followed by 64 in Gujranwala with 66 victims and Multan at third with 62 RTCs and 65 victims.
The details further reveal that 988 victims were affected by road accidents including 775 male and 213 female victims. The age group of the victims showed that 161 were under 18 years of age, 543 were between 18 and 40 years and the remaining 284 victims were reported to be above 40 years of age.
