LAHORE:

The Pakistan Football Federation is set to hold a training camp for the Senior Women’s National Team in Lahore from October 26 to November 1, said a PFF press release on Friday.

“As many as thirty top players from the country have been called up for the camp which will be held under the supervision of National Technical Director and Head Coach Daniel Limones, while seasoned coaches Akhtar Mohiyuddin and Kiran Ghouri will assist him. Raheela Zarmeen will be the Women's National Team Manager,” read the press release.

“After six years of non-activity, the camp’s main target is to revamp the Women's National Team and to set up a structure that could allow a regular and dynamic calendar for the coming time as well as creating the core of the team for the future.”

PFF said that they have developed their own Covid-19 protocol to keep the players safe.

“All the players and staff will be joining the training camp by October 26. Pakistan Football Federation has designed their own protocol to provide a safe environment for players and staff members. Players and staff will be tested before joining and their interaction during the seven-day-camp will be restricted to only the above mentioned participants. The Covid-19 protocol includes other SOPs and strict guidelines for players and staff to ensure the safety of all the members involved,” said the press release.

Meanwhile, Limones was excited for the opportunity to revamp the Pakistan women’s national team after a long time.

“I’m absolutely thrilled about the possibility of revamping the Women’s National Team after a long period. It is the time to put women’s football in Pakistan back into the international scene. Everyone at PFF is excited about this event and have made all the preparation arrangements easier to happen, beginning from the Chairman,” said head coach Limones.

“Obviously that we will have a Covid-19 free set up. For me there is no other way to do it because unfortunately, I have the reference with what is happening in my hometown, so the protocols were on the table since the first minute of planning this Training Camp.

“Really optimistic about the camp, about the players after watching the whole final round of the last National Women’s Football Championship. The fact of engaging young players is vital to look at long term perspective plus some fixtures for the underage teams are going to happen in 2021. It is paramount for us to create a proper database of players to have proper technical information of all the players across the country.”
