RDA anti-encroachment operation fails
The red-tape procedures in getting police help for an anti-encroachment operation forced the building control officials of the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) to return without commencing the operation. Sources told The Express Tribune that the RDA Building Control Department received a letter from MPA Amjad Mehmood Chaudhry. The lawmaker had called for an anti-encroachment operation on Koth Kalan near Rabia Banglows. He had contended that the construction of roads could not be started due to a plethora of illegal establishments on Koth Kalan road. Sources said that the RDA Building Control Deputy Director Muhammad Aijaz reached the site along with his team. Fearing resistance, the deputy director sought help in terms of personnel from the jurisdiction police. However, the Station House Officer (SHO) refused to provide police personnel for anti-encroachment operation and asked the RDA official to write a letter as per rules and regulations to get their help. Hence, the building control teams were forced to return without conducting the operation.
