A local court handed over on Monday the accused to the police for a 14-day judicial remand for allegedly deceiving several women into fraudulent marriages. The West judicial magistrate was hearing the case at Karachi City Court. According to the petitioner, the accused, Nasir, married her through a false nikkahnama in 2014 and later fled after collecting Rs800,000. She claimed that Nasir led a group involved in contracting false marriages and ruining the lives of many women. The petitioner’s counsel maintained that Nasir, whose real name was Abdul Majid, used various names in order to marry different women. He further informed the court that two affected women had reached out to the police after the case was registered against Nasir. The court handed over the accused to the police for a 14-day judicial remand, directing the police to submit the case challan at the next hearing.
