KARACHI:

Urging clerics to promote sectarian harmony, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah called for the revival of traditions based on mutual understanding and respect.

Presiding over two different meetings of Ulema from different schools of thought at the CM House on Saturday, Shah said that unscrupulous people were trying to create sectarian strife in Sindh.

"We must demonstrate unity, fraternity and tolerance to foil this move that is aimed at destabilising Pakistan," he insisted, adding that where wall chalkings had been used for this purpose in previous years, social media was now the tool of choice.

The CM stated that the government had begun rooting out those responsible for spreading sectarian hatred and would bring them to the book.

Meanwhile, the clerics assured him of their cooperation, stating that they would not permit anyone to create friction in society.
