Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb has warned of taking names of each traitor and their treason if naysayers didn’t stop making accusations, as criticism over the former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s speeches rattles the party.
Ministers have been scathing Nawaz Sharif, the PML-N supreme leader, for his anti-government speeches. During the all-party confab and PML-N’s meeting, Sharif had questioned about ongoing parliamentary business and the performance of national institutions. Prime Minister Imran Khan, in a televised interview, had also slammed Shairf’s speech delivered last month and compared his remarks with MQM founder Altaf Hussain’s fierce speeches against institutions.
“Nawaz Sharif does not need any kind of patriotism certificate,” Marryium said while addressing a press conference.
She alleged that a corrupt gang is imposed on the country that sometimes targets politicians, bureaucrats and media. “[The PML-N] will tell the people by name who have betrayed [the country]. Those who steal votes are traitors,” she added.
The PML-N spokesperson demanded that it should be told who is a traitor as in the past people, while sitting in the United States and Iran, had accused Pakistan Army of creating Al Qaeda. “Those who are making the narrative of treason are actually not loyal to the country,” she said.
Recalling the Sharif’s tenure, she added that former Indian prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and incumbent premier Narendra Modi had visited the country.
“Prime Minister Imran Khan used to say that if Modi becomes the Indian PM then the Kashmir issue will be solved,” she said, “The nation saw fall of Kashmir [after Modi’s second stint as the PM] then who is traitor.”
Maryam stressed that everyone has made sacrifices for Pakistan. “Such people are doing politics by dragging institutions into politics. Pakistan is not someone’s property, everyone has made sacrifices,” she added.
