SSR case a suicide, not murder: report

Probe into actor’s death completed

In a latest development as reported by India Today, Dr Sudhir Gupta, who had led the re-evaluation of Sushant Singh Rajput’s post-mortem and viscera exams, has confirmed that the late actor’s death was indeed a case of suicide and that murder can completely be ruled out.

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) panel was called in by the CBI SIT team that had been tasked by the Indian Supreme Court to investigate the case. The panel was led by Dr Gupta and it re-examined the autopsy and viscera reports upon the request.

As per the latest, Dr Gupta told the news channel, "Sushant’s death is a case of suicide. Murder completely ruled out." Earlier, a report by NDTV also mentioned that the sources had reportedly said that the report is conclusive and that it rules out all murder theories. It also had highlighted that the CBI is likely to probe the "abetment to suicide" charge as levelled by Rajput’s father KK Singh in an FIR with Bihar Police.

The team that was re-evaluating Rajput’s case reportedly did the same with 20% viscera samples available with them. As per the report, the forensic agencies evaluated a laptop, two hard disks, a canon camera and two mobile phones.

Amid this, Rajput’s sister Shweta Singh Kirti took to social media and shared a photo of her late brother with a cryptic message. “We Will Win,” she wrote. Fans of the PK actor also commented on the post and demanded justice for him.

It was after KK Singh filed an FIR against Rhea Chakraborty, Showik Chakraborty and others that the Bihar Police came into action and later, the Supreme Court tasked the CBI to probe the case. The team is yet to issue an official statement on the same. However, a few days back, when Singh’s family lawyer had questioned the delay in the probe, the agency had issued a statement saying that no angle had been ruled out and that probe was still going on.
Singh was found dead in his home on June 14, 2020.
