US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump tested positive for the novel coronavirus on Friday, hours after top adviser Hope Hicks contracted the virus.

Trump took to microblogging website Twitter and said the two of them will begin their quarantine and recovery process immediately.

"We will get through this together!" he wrote.

Hicks travels regularly with the president on Air Force One and, along with other senior aides, accompanied him to Ohio for the presidential debate on Tuesday and to Minnesota for a campaign event on Wednesday.
