Health emergency extended in K-P
The provincial government has extended the health emergency in the province for another two months. The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) issued a notification on Wednesday which extends the health emergency until November 31. The notification read that it was necessary to adopt protective measures to combat the spread of the deadly novel coronavirus (Covid-19) which has so far claimed at least 1,258 lives while infecting over 37,500 people. The decision was taken as primary schools reopened across the country, including in K-P, with strict implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) to avoid contracting Covid-19. Earlier on September 29, Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training Shafqat Mehmood, along with Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Health Dr Faisal Sultan had announced to reopen primary level schools (grades 1-5) from September 30.
