3 held for killing labourer denied bail
The Lahore High Court (LHC) Rawalpindi Bench on Thursday dismissed the bail pleas of three suspects who had allegedly killed a labourer for demanding wage after work. A single-member bench comprising Justice Sadiq Mehmood Khurram while presiding over the case pertaining to the killing of a labourer, Muhammad Riaz, agreed to the argument of the prosecution that granting bail to the “remorseless killers was like giving them a licence to kill.” During the hearing, the counsel for the prosecution, Junaid Akhtar Advocate, told the court that the deceased worked for the entire day. However, when he demanded wage against his service from the suspects including Hasnain, Tanvir, and Ehtisham, they opened fire at Riaz and killed him on the spot. Sadiqabad police registered a case on the complaint lodged by Tahir Naseer. The lawyer said that the suspects were already facing a trial in a sessions court and granting bails to them would be analogous to awarding a murder licence.
