Nine denied bail in corruption case

A federal anti-corruption court denied bail on Wednesday to nine accused in a case pertaining to the embezzlement of General Post Office funds. According to a challan submitted by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in court, 11 persons have been accused of corruption, causing a loss of Rs130 million to the national exchequer. Of them, nine had requested bail, but their pleas were rejected. Of the remaining two, a female official has escaped from police custody and another accused has already been granted bail by the Sindh High Court.
