Sindh Women Development Minister Shehla Raza called for SHOs to be directed to lodge women’s complaints on priority bases. She has also ordered that all cases registered on women’s complaints be reported to Women Development Department’s helpline, accessible at 1094, so that affected women can be provided legal and medical assistance, as well as protection. She issued these directives during a meeting with Karachi AIG Ghulam Nabi Memon on Tuesday. Raza also emphasised the need for raising awareness about laws pertaining to domestic violence among SHOs and investigation officers, so that cases were registered under relevant acts and sections, and said that SHOs be directed to register cases on women’s complaints on priority basis. The minister emphasised the need for employing modern technology for taking those involved in crimes against women to book.
