Court orders sealing RO plant
The Sindh High Court directed relevant authorities on Tuesday to seal a reverse osmosis (RO) plant set up in a residential building in North Nazimabad. The court further stated that if it was ascertained that the plant was being run illegally, it should be shut down.
The petitioner's counsel informed the court that his client had been facing inconvenience due to the RO plant and moved the court to issue a restraining order to suspend the plant's operation until the food department submitted its report on the matter.
A report on the matter was presented by Central district assistant commissioner Imtiaz Abro.
According to the report, there are 170 RO plants in Central district, of which just 24 are legal.
At this, the court inquired whether the RO plant against whose establishment the case was registered was illegal too.
The assistant commissioner confirmed that it was illegal.
When the court inquired why hadn't been sealed yet, the assistant commissioner replied that sealing it was the food department' responsibility.
Adjourning the hearing, the court issued a notice to SFA DG, seeking his reply within a week.
