Police bust ‘counterfeit currency dealers’ gang’
Ferozabad Police claimed on Tuesday to have nabbed a three-member gang of counterfeit currency dealers during an intelligence-based raid, and seized counterfeit currency notes, totalling Rs180,000, from them.
According to East district SSP Sajid Sadozai, the arrested suspects include Ismail, who heads the organised crime group, and two other members of the gang, Mir Nawaz alias Mahnaz and Muhammad Owais.
The SSP said that the gang would receive parcels of counterfeit currency notes of Rs1,000, sent via courier from Peshawar, and circulate them at fuel stations and markets.
He further stated that Ismail, who hails from Kohat, had confessed to selling a parcel of counterfeit currency, totalling Rs100,000, for Rs30,000.
The SSP added that the arrested suspects had told police that counterfeit currency was being sent from Peshawar to the rest of the country via courier services and cargo.
