A Pakistan Army soldier embraced martyrdom during an exchange of fire that ensued after the Indian armed forces targeted civilian population along the Line of Control, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Tuesday.
At least one civilian was also martyred, whereas four others were injured in what was another incident of ceasefire violation by the Indian occupation forces.
Sepoy Shafique was martyred in an intense exchange of fire between the troops, the ISPR stated, adding that the Pakistan Army troops responded and targeted the posts that initiated fire. There were reports of substantial damage to Indian posts in men and material.
According to the ISPR, the civilian martyred in the incident was a 15-year-old boy from the Baroh sector, whereas the four injured civilians - including a woman and an 80-year-old man - were residents of the Kartan Village in the Tandar sector.
Three days earlier, Indian border security forces had resorted to targeting the Pakistani side of LoC, resulting in the martyrdom of 34-year-old Naik Dil Faraz. He was a resident of Village Panjkot in Muzaffarabad.
On September 25, Pakistan had registered a strong protest with India over another unprovoked incident of ceasefire violation carried out by Indian occupation forces along the Line of Control (LoC) on September 24.
The FO spokesperson had then said that India had committed 2,340 ceasefire violations to date, resulting in 18 shahadats.
