Robbers looted Rs1.15 million from a fruit trader’s accountant at Sabzi Mandi on Monday. New Sabzi Mandi Association leader Saleem Khawaja stated that the accountant, Habib Agha, was coming to the market after withdrawing cash from a bank when robbers chased him and robbed him inside the market. “Back to back robberies this week have exposed the police’s [poor] performance,” he said. “The officers deputed at the nearby police station appear to be incompetent and criminals are taking advantage of this.” Enraged, traders shut the market’s main gate in protest and criticised the police. The SITE Super Highway police arrived at the market upon being informed and the traders called off the protest after the SHO assured them the culprits would soon be arrested. However, the traders insisted that if this was not done, they would stage another protest.
