RAWALPINDI:

To provide another source of entertainment for the nearly 5.3 million residents of the garrison city, a new theme park will be built in the city.

A project in this regard has been approved by Rawalpindi Commissioner Muhammad Mehmood.

The amusement park will be sprawled on 200 acres of land along the proposed Ring Road project in the city.

Giving a briefing on the project on Sunday, Capital Smart City (CSC) officials told the commissioner that the park will be built on European standards.

They further said that the construction of the theme park is expected to take around three years to complete.

Apart from rides, it will feature branches of local and international food outlets in a food street and hotels to accommodate visitors from outside the city. A market place will also be set up inside the park where items promoting indigenous cultures such as handicrafts and other artisanal products are sold.

The amusement park will include rides for every age group including four mega rides, 13 medium rides, and 105 small rides.

Commissioner Mehmood backed the idea of the CSC and directed the relevant officials to finish the legal and other formalities on the project so that it can be submitted to the approval phase for early construction.

He said that the project will not only add a major recreational destination for residents of the city but will help create a host of new jobs for the people.
