Adjournment motion filed over BRT
A motion has been submitted in the provincial assembly secretariat over the currently-suspended Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) bus project.
The adjournment motion was submitted by Inyatullah Khan, an opposition member of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) assembly and the naib ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami in the province.
It adopts the argument that the government inaugurated an incomplete project last month in the form of the BRT, which has spent much of the past month suspended owing to serious technical issues.
The JI member added that the government had promised to complete the BRT project within six months. But the project was inaugurated nearly three years later in an incomplete state.
The project has caused a setback worth billions for local transporters, many of which were forced to close down. However, with the bus service currently suspended, it has forced the public to look for alternative means of travel, particularly after schools and universities resumed in the province.
