Ziauddin University (ZU) conferred degrees upon 557 graduating students in various programmes, including MBBS, BDS, Pharm-D, Biomedical Engineering, Medical Technology and others as well as three PhDs, in a virtual convocation on Sunday.
Congratulating the graduates and their parents, ZU chancellor Dr Asim Hussain urged the students to show their parents the utmost respect, not only for their upbringing but also for the hard work and sacrifices put in for their education.
"The year 2020 has changed the entire modus operandi not only of the country but of the world," he said, referring to the ongoing pandemic. "The quicker we adapt to this new change, the better it will be for the country and we will be on the way to progress."
He advised the graduating students to work hard irrespective of their journey, adding that they should make sure the path they took benefited Pakistan as well as mankind.
"Help society and give your best to the mission of sustaining peace and eradicating poverty," he urged.
ZU vice-chancellor Dr Pirzada Qasim Raza Siddiqui, meanwhile, stated that they had to host the convocation virtually due to the Covid-19 pandemic, adding that after a six-month closure, the university had launched e-learning and online educational activities, including classes and examinations.
He counseled the fresh graduates to remember that their oath to abide by professional ethics. "Carry on the good work through your profession," he said. "You must pursue professional knowledge and experiences to upgrade yourselves."
