The political leadership of the country has widely hailed Prime Minister Imran Khan's speech at the 75th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session.

Referring to the prime minister's speech as 'historic', Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Shibli Faraz said the entire nation is proud of the topics raised by the premier while addressing global leaders.

In a tweet, the federal minister said it is Imran Khan who has vehemently presented the case of the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJ&K) on every international forum to expose the human rights violations by Indian armed forces in the disputed region.

"Peace in the region will remain a dream without resolving the Kashmir dispute," the federal minister quoted.

"Prime Minister Imran Khan's proposal of a framework for the return of looted money stashed abroad through money laundering is a clear manifestation of his strong commitment against corruption," he wrote.

The premier's speech was also met with praise by Federal Minister for Industries and Production Hammad Azhar who lauded Imran Khan for "voicing concerns so boldly and fearlessly".

The minister took to microblogging website Twitter and appreciated the prime minister for once again effectively raising the issues of Kashmir, Palestine, Islamophobia and corruption.

"PM Imran Khan's substantive address to the UNGA made every Pakistani proud and truly represented," the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Authority Chairman Lt General (retd) Asim Saleem Bajwa wrote.

The CPEC chairman also appreciated Imran's speech for his clear stance on Kashmir, Palestine, regional peace, his promise to lift the masses out of poverty and the warning given to India regarding any future misadventure.

Federal Minister for Human Rights Shireen Mazari referred to the prime minister's address as 'strong' and 'hard-hitting'.

"From Kashmir to Palestine. From the economic woes arising from money laundered and stashed in developed states to the need for a global response to mitigate the economic issues arising from Covid-19 and climate change," she tweeted.

Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar praised the prime minister for highlighting all the important issues faced by the world today, including Covid-19, poverty, Islamophobia, Palestine, the Kashmir dispute and climate change.

He said Imran Khan is "a true world leader worthy of his stature".

Mushaal Mullick, the wife of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman Yasmin Malik, welcomed the prime minister's speech at the UNGA session.

She said Imran Khan exposed the Indian atrocities in Kashmir, following the abrogation of Article 370 and 35A and the current fascist regime in India.

A day earlier, PM Imran demanded justice for the Kashmiris and the Palestinians and warned against the increased threat of nuclear war, highlighted the threats posed to mankind due to climate change and the rise of authoritarian regimes, saying: “We must come together to prevent such a catastrophe.”

The premier said that Pakistan had always called for a peaceful solution to the Kashmir dispute.

To this end, he added, India must rescind the measures it had instituted since August 5, 2019, end its military siege and other gross human rights violations, and agree to “resolve the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in accordance with the relevant UN Security Council resolutions and, of course, the wishes of the people of Kashmir”.
