PHC calls off protests outside Indian High Commission against Jodhpur killings

Protesters demand an end to India's Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB)

ISLAMABAD:

The Pakistan Hindu Council (PHC) on Saturday called off its sit-in outside the Indian High Commission in Islamabad to protest the killing of 11 Pakistani Hindus in India's Jodhpur.

Addressing a final sit-in before deciding to call off the protests, the PHC Patron-in-Chief Ramesh Kumar maintained that the Indian government is working against the ideology of the Hindu religion and reaffirmed his support to fight for the community.

Meanwhile, the protesters passed a resolution at the gate of the Indian High Commission demanding New Delhi to involve Islamabad in a transparent investigation of the Jodhpur killings.

The resolution asked India to revoke the controversial Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB).

Moreover, the resolution also expressed solidarity with the people living in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJ&K) and called for an end to the human rights violations in the region.

Earlier, eleven members of a Pakistani Hindu migrant family were found dead at a farm in Indian northern Rajasthan’s Jodhpur district, police officials said.

One of the family members, who claimed to have slept outside the hut in a small Lodta village of Dechu area said he had no clues as to what caused the incident.
