PSDP fund authorisation streamlined

Issues and bottlenecks in PSDP funded projects were discussed and a way forward was agreed upon for each project

ISLAMABAD:

The federal government has streamlined the process of authorising and releasing funds allocated under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP), releasing around a fifth of the allocated sum in the first quarter of the new fiscal year.

This was stated by the Federal Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Minister Asad Umar on Friday as he chaired a meeting to review progress made on federal education and professional training projects.

Issues and bottlenecks in PSDP funded projects were discussed and a way forward was agreed upon for each project.

Umar said that the Planning Commission has streamlined the process of authorising PSDP funds for the ministries and executing agencies.

In this regard, he said that during the first quarter of the ongoing fiscal year 2020-21, they had released around 20 per cent of the PSDP allocation of each ministry were authorized in one go so that the money can be utilised in time.

This process, Umar hoped, will ensure the speedy implementation of projects while passing on the benefits to the public.
